Where is your office located? The office address is 361 East 19th Street, which is off the NW corner of 1st Avenue and 19th Street, on the second floor. It is located within Watch Me Grow, a sensory gym and speech/language center, and is easily accessible by the L, N, Q, R, 4, 5, & 6 trains. Do you take insurance? Although this practice is not “in-network” with any insurance plans, Dr. Tobing-Puente prepares receipts, with all necessary codes and information, for families who seek reimbursement (as an “out-of-network” service) through their own insurance plans. Dr. Tobing-Puente provides services through NYC DOE’s CPSE and CSE programs for children who are mandated for counseling on their IEP. What payment methods do you accept? Private pay families submit payment by check or cash. Families who receive Dr. Tobing-Puente’s services through CPSE or CSE are not responsible for fee payment as long as the services are provided within the mandate on the child’s IEP. What will my child do in therapy? The nature of sessions with each child is highly individualized and is determined based on his/her and the family’s specific needs and goals. For some children, sessions primarily take place within Dr. Tobing-Puente’s office; for others, the sensory gym is better equipped to address the child’s goals. Generally speaking, sessions are play-based for the majority of children. How will I be involved in my child’s treatment? Parents are considered to be an integral part of treatment with their child, as such involvement is crucial to their long-term success. Dr. Tobing-Puente’s work is relationship-based, recognizing that relationships with parent(s) are critical to development and that optimal growth occurs within the context of primary relationships. The nature of parent involvement varies depending on the treatment goals. Some parents are present throughout the entire session, while some are present for only part. When parents are unavailable during the child’s session time, alternative methods of communication, feedback, and support are arranged. All parents are encouraged and expected to meet regularly with Dr. Tobing-Puente to discuss their child’s progress.
